October: The Month Where I Struggle To Focus

Hello hello!

It has been such a long time since I’ve written a blog post, but it sure does feel good to be back!

How are you all doing? I hope this month has been productive and amazing, and full of wonderful reading moments!

For me, this month has definitely been stressful! I’m back at university full-time, and even though everything is online, it has been quite difficult to handle. I’ve also taken on quite a few leadership roles in various societies at the university, which has also kept me busy. Dancing has taken up a good chunk of time, as well, so I rarely find myself sitting down and relaxing.

But this doesn’t mean I haven’t been reading! I took a couple of weeks to reassess my blogging and reading priorities; clearly, I wouldn’t be able to read everyday or blog as much as possible, but I wanted to try and strike a balance.

One key thing I’ve done is not officially participate in readathons, but still use the prompts to motivate me to read books that have been sitting on my TBR. This has worked really well for me so far: I’m able to read without much pressure! I’ve missed interacting with everyone and pushing myself but I know this is better in the long run.

I’ve also decided to work on posting on my blog once a week, starting in November. This gives me enough time to generate some content, do some blog hopping, and not stress myself out too much! At the end of the day, reading and blogging should be fun and not feel like more work.

It’s been a bumpy ride this month, and I’m so thankful for all of my bookish and non-bookish friends for keeping me sane! I can’t wait to go back to interacting with everyone through my blog, Goodreads, and Twitter!

How has October been for you?

Have you met your reading goals for the month?

Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. I’m glad you took time off to reassess how you want to handle things! it always helps. I’ve recently decided to blog lesser as well but.. it’s not been working out haha. I’m too used to the old routine. it’ll take some time for me to slow down.

    1. Haha, well if you’re able to keep up and are enjoying it, then all power to you! Just don’t stress yourself out if you don’t reach all of your targets – that’s what I’m trying to tell myself, at least!

  2. Great post, Vee! It sounds like you are really busy, good luck with everything at uni đź’š I’m glad you have found a good way of sticking to your TBR as well!

  3. University is definitely a lot and I’m glad you took some time off to relax!
Readathons can definitely be very stressful, especially if you aren’t able to read enough

    1. Thanks hun, so far it’s off to a good start!
Readathons can definitely be stressful but I just can’t resist the fun of it all! I’m going to try my hardest this time, though.
